Let’s talk playful learning! I know we ALWAYS talk playful learning (that is what A Mom with a Lesson Plan is about) but today I want to share the importance of playful learning for kids of all ages.

Playful learning for kids of all ages

Toddlers, preschoolers and even big kids benefit so much from good, hands-on learning. Throw in some fun and you’ve got a recipe for kids who are engaged and eager to LEARN!

Toddlers are pretty easy. Everything is new and exciting. It’s not very hard to make it fun with toddlers. I love these 8 playful learning activities for toddlers… and I think you will too!

Most preschools by nature are playful. Introducing opportunities to learn that incorporate their interests is the best way to keep preschools excited about learning. Here are 5 great playful activities just for you.

Playful Learning for Kids – Preschoolers

  • DIY Story Stones {The Artful Parent}
  • Tissue Paper Art {Fantastic Fun and Learning}
  • Learning About Farm Animals {Gift of Curiosity}
  • DIY Cardboard Learning Mat  {Frogs and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails}
  • Exploring Sound {Buggy and Buddy}

Should playful learning stop once kids are required to learn the tough stuff? Reading, math facts, geography OH MY! Playful learning is just as important in these tough subjects as it is in learning colors and counting. Big kids (and even adults!) will always learn better when they are having fun, enjoying the process and interested in what they are doing.

Playful Learning for Kids – Big Kids

  • Around the World in 12 Dishes – New Zealand {After School for Smarty Pants}
  • Twister Sight Words
  • Practicing Sight Words with a Mirror {This Fine Day}
  • Mapping Activities for Older Children {Smiling Like Sunshine}
  • Kinesthetic Math Games for Kids {Coffee Cups and Crayons}

In true lesson planning form I will be featuring posts that fit into my lesson plan for the week. Next week’s plan is for Fall, so dig through your archives and give me your best Fall posts along with what you were already planning to link up. (Should be pretty easy right?)
