Snack + Activity = Apple Puzzle
I love fall! One reason is all of the apple activities that start popping up on Pinterest. Are you following me over there? You should! I’ve saved some wonderful playfully learning ideas. Click here to follow Confidence Meets Parenting on Pinterest.
The apple puzzle is my second favorite way to have fun with apples. Our yearly apple tasting is my #1 favorite fall activity.
What you need: Apple (the bigger the better), sharp knife, hungry kid.
- Cut shapes into the apple.
- Serve.
- Super easy right?!?!
Tips for maximizing learning.
- If your little one is working on a specific shape make a bunch of different sizes of the same shape.
- Make the puzzle more difficult by adding shapes inside of shapes.
- Try to keep the apple cutting hidden so your little one doesn’t see how the pieces go in unless…
- You have a little one who gets frustrated easily. Letting them watch will help make putting it together easier.
- Want to make it even harder? Use 2 apples and mix all the pieces together.
This is a cheap, easy, and fun way to add a little learning to snack time…. how do you learn while you eat?
Oh, I really like this! My son is big into puzzles and I bet he would go crazy for this. Thanks for sharing!
Did you find the saving cream post? 😉
What a great idea for snack time!
Thanks!
What a neat idea for making snack time interesting.
I love how simple it its…doesn’t take any more time than slicing an apple!
how great is this! the only thing I’d be worried about is encouraging children to play with food
I don’t really have a problem with kids playing with food, as long as they are being safe and not getting too silly. My hubs feels differently about it. =) We keep the playing with their food to cute food designs and this puzzle apple. I will say though, that Big puts the puzzle together and then eats it…. so this one hasn’t turned into playing.
I’ve only just found this post and think it’s a fantastic idea. Only the other day my 6yr oldd son was putting his apple (cut into quarters) back together. I never thought to actually take it further and make the apple into a more difficult puzzle. Guess what’s happening to his apple today! Thanks heaps for sharing.
So… did he love it???
Thanks for posting this. I’m taking Early Child Education class and this helped me a lot for the lesson plan I had to make today:)
