New Years with the KIDS!!!

How will you celebrate New Years?  Will you attend a fancy party and get all dressed up?  Will you be cuddled up on the couch with your love?  Will you have a sitter or ring in the New Year with the kids?  We are combining all of those ideas!  Hubs will be smoking a pork shoulder to make super delish pulled pork sandwiches.   A few close friends and family will attend the “party” for which I will get all dressed up!  I have been saving up ideas for the kids… want to see what I’ve found?

These coloring sheets from Activity Village are so much fun!!!  I plan to print out a few choices to lay out on table along with colored pencils.

I love the idea of using these home made clocks to countdown with the kids.  I especially love that Kaboose suggests using firework markers to set the time you will countdown to (9pm sounds much better than midnight!).

I saw this idea on Pinterest a while back and have been searching for it ever since.  Hooray, I found it!  The idea is that you have an activity planned for each hour.  The Dating Divas have some really great New Years ideas.  Including an “All about Me” Time Capsule.  (I was able to copy the print out for the Time Capsule and change the 2010 to 2011.)

Well, I’m a little behind on reading, but I love these ideas and will pin them for next year. We celebrated at home with the kids but since my kids are 1 and 3, we celebrated at noon on New Year’s Eve with Chinese food– since it was midnight in China. We also had a dance party and made handprints with numbers to practice countdown backwards from 10-1. It was a great day and my husband and I pooped out about 10 pm.
