I had the hardest time finding books to match my shape lesson plan!  It seemed like all of the books about shapes had one shape with one word.  Of course one of those is fine, good even, but M and M are too old for board books.  Finally I found these three, and I am happy to say they are all very good shape books!

Mouse Shapes

This fun book shows just what you can do with a few shapes! These silly mice are always up to something.  When they find themselves hiding in a pile of shapes, a game of “what can we build with shapes” begins.  If you can get your hands on this one, it works perfectly with Shape Collage.

So Many Circles, So Many Squares

by Tana Hoban

The pictures tell the story in this book.  Find squares on your dinner plate or circles in the produce department.  Photographs of everyday environments highlight how easy it is to find shapes everywhere!

Shapes, Triangles

by Esther Sarfatti

Esther Sarfatti uses simple sentences to show how triangles are hidden in items as simple as a piece of pie!   If you like this one, you can look for the rest of the series.  Sarfatti has books that cover each shape, color, and counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
