Lego Game… directions and a free printable Game Board!!!

I’m excited. Yeah, yeah you’re right I’ve been excited a lot lately with the Summer Reading Series, the Camp Mom Summer Activities Pack and now this incredibly awesome (if I do say so myself) Lego Game. You should see me in person I’m a crazy ball of excitement.

Lego Game & Game Board

I knew I needed to do something fun with our Legos. Pinterest is crawling with great Lego ideas and I want to join in! Sure we did the Lego Party but that was a long time ago. So Big M and I sat down to create our own Lego board game.

YEAH! Super fun Lego Game using my son's Lego collection. Just in time for summer!

Creating it was so much fun! We played a couple of times, changing the wording (and the rules) until it was just right. What we ended up with is a game that M, M and I have a blast playing together. Want to know how you can join the fun? Just print out the game board and I’ll tell you how to play!

GAME BOARD: Left side of board     Right side of board

DIRECTIONS: Lego Game Directions

I had Hubby make the game board pretty plain. That way you don’t have to use a lot of ink to  print it. It might be fun to have the kids add a little color.

Perfect! Lego game with a free printable board. I know what we're doing today.

Lego Game Directions

1. Pick a person. Mini Figures will stand better if you put them on a Lego brick.
2. Have a Lego pile near by. I found that filling a bowl with Legos was easier than using our big Lego box.
3. Everyone takes 20 Legos to start.
4. Put another 20 Legos in the ‘Pond’.
5. Choose a player to go first.
6. The first player rolls the die and moves that amount of spaces.
7. Follow the directions on the square that you land on.
8. When the first player has finished pass the die to the left.
9. Continue play until you reach the finish line.

I left finishing the game open-ended. I’ll suggest a few possible endings but do what works for your family. Get creative and have fun with it.

  • Count your Legos. Then talk about who has the most, the least, does anyone have the same? (See what I did there? Added in a little math and took out the “winner”.)
  • Set a timer for 3 minutes and see what you can build using only the Legos in your pile.
  • Build. Trade pieces grab from the pile. If your kids are like mine they already have something started anyway.
  • Have the players work together to build something using all the Legos.

I did my best to make these directions clear, but you may find you have a question. If so, make up a house rule OR leave me a comment. I’ll be happy to clear up any confusion… or as it might be in our house any game debates!

If you love this game as much as we do pass it on! Pin it, Facebook Share it, G+ it…

  26. Hi.

I’ve found your website via pinterest. I love the Lego game, but the link just opens to a blank page. Can you email the board to me, please?? Thx 🙂

  27. Hi
I love you game idea. I’m going to make it a bit more age appropriate for my 6 & 9 year old by switching the ‘adding’ for fractions. So instead of counting I might have ‘take away 1/4 of your Legos!’ I think this could be altered for all ages. It’s great!x

  28. Love this idea for my special education classroom!! Please e-mail the link to this LEGO board game.

    Thanks so much!!!

  29. My son LOVES Legos AND board games! The combination of the two are going to blow his mind! I can’t wait!

  37. Thank you for this game. I played it with my 3 year old son and 4.5 year old daughter. It was great and my son played through the whole game, which at times can be difficult for him 🙂 The ability to play with his Legos while waiting his turn was great.

    Great idea and thanks!

I like how you made it open ended I am going to modify it a bit to be more cooperative play 🙂 (e.g. instead of giving away blocks into a pool or to another player the goal will be to build a large bridge over the pool/pond or add blocks to a tower without it falling down).

    Thanks!
