California Museums – Fingerprints Youth Museum
Ready for something new? Today I’m sharing something about where we live. Did you know I’m raising a couple of California kids? A bunch of us California bloggers have come together today to share what we love about playing with kids in our home state. At the bottom of this post you will find The Sunshine Kids California Blog Hop with links to lots of different California posts… you can even add your own!
We visited one of our favorite California children’s museums.
California Museums- Fingerprints Youth Museum
Fingerprints Youth Museum has been one of our favorites since the kids were really young. It’s located in Hemet. Fingerprints is a hidden gem. It’s a bit of a drive for us, but worth it every time. You can find the address and hours on Fingerprints website.

What We Love
- The size. Fingerprints is pretty small compared to other museums we’ve visited. I like that a lot. M and M have different interests. At bigger museums there is a lot of waiting to move on, rushing through to the next thing and Mommy guided tours. At this museum I can easily walk back and forth between the kids while they absorb what THEY are interested in. Plus with a smaller environment they can spend a lot of time at the exhibits that excite them without feeling like they are missing something.
- The exhibits. Most of the exhibits have a small space dedicated to a theme. There is an exercise room with foam weights, a trampoline, jump ropes and other mini equipment. (Way too cute!) A mini Walmart has empty boxes, mini carts, a cash register and even a conveyor belt. There is a life size ambulance for the kids to climb in, pretend to drive and a bed in back for a patient. Check out more about the exhibits they offer.
- The price. At $5 a ticket, this becomes a very inexpensive play date!
I’ll give you one guess where Big M spent most of his time. You got it… the trash exhibit. He’s a bit of a trash truck enthusiast. In fact one of his favorite parts of summer is being able to watch the trash trucks. We are not allowed to leave the house on trash day! Note the little trash can. How fun!!!
Fingerprints hosts events, birthday parties and field trips. All the info can be found on their website.
The Sunshine Kids California Blog Hop celebrates all that is wonderful about raising kids in the Golden State.

This museum looks like so much fun. Bummed that it’s 2 hours away from us.
This museum looks super fun, hands-on, and full of great opportunities for open-ended play. I had no idea about it. Thanks for sharing!
We love reciprocal memberships. Sometimes, there are restrictions (distance between sites, etc.), but for the most part, it’s an awesome way to get admission (especially with multiple kids!) to a bunch of different museums.
My kids are getting bigger – but lucky for me, not too big for places like this yet!
This is great to know – we should get reciprocal membership too. I have never heard about this museum before – sharing on FB now.
